This four-day hands-on course will introduce you to the Final Cut Pro 7 editing environment. A wide range of topics will get you up to speed on how to take a project from start to finish- including setup, capturing and outputting, building and refining an edit, mixing audio and how to incorporate effects. Working on a range of editing scenarios will give the student an opportunity to apply and reinforce the various, covered editing techniques. This course is designed for anyone who wants to edit professional quality video using Final Cut Pro. Instructor demonstration is followed by ample time for hands-on exercises.

• Capture video and audio from videotape
• Importing video, audio and graphics
• 3-Point editing and drag and drop style editing
• Ripple, Roll, Slip and Slide trimming techniques
• Editing an interview style documentary scene
• Editing a narration style documentary scene

• Organizing project elements
• Creating and working with subclips
• Audio mixing
• Adding, modifying and working with video and audio transitions
• Creating titles using FCP's built-in title generators
• Using Boris Title generators
• Working with Mattes and other generators
• Using Master Templates from Motion inside Final Cut Pro to create a theme for titles and other video effects throughout a program
• Speed effects to create fast and slow motion, using forward and reverse motion
• Techniques for resizing images, adjusting Opacity, Cropping, and Distort
• Using video filters to change the look of an image in a variety of interesting ways
• Output program to videotape, QuickTime and export audio for audio mixing
