ATSC
(Advanced Television Systems Committee) Established in 1982 to develop digital television standards for the U.S. These include standards for (digital) standard and high definition video. The FCC adopted many of the aspects of the ATSC standards in 1996, and U.S. digital television transmission will use these standards. These include standards for 1080p, 1080i and 720p variations. Depending on the format, many possible frame rates are defined, including 23.98, 24, 29.97, 30, 59.94 and 60fps.
